Thanks for pointer to the "clarification". Per Microsoft's suggested "workaround" yesterday, I set the Internet security zone settings to High. That broke Secunia Personal Software Inspector's feature for downloading software updates. This clarification is more specific, i.e. it says to change the setting to Prompt before running Active Scripting or ActiveX Controls. I had already done that, and it's nice to know that applies "the most secure configuration against this specific vulnerability". Or so they say. (I just checked Windows Update for my XP SP3 PC. Still no patch from MS!)
OK. Now on to the instructions for blocking "access to the vulnerable code in MSHTML.dll via OLEDB, protecting against current attacks". WTF! I can't figure out how to do this from the instructions. I give up. I guess I'll just have to stick with using Firefox with NoScript.

@Alan Baxter:
I suppose that was exactly their point; the marketing dep. just didn't allow them to tell it straight :)

Thanks, Gorgio! I am adding your site to my daily routine and suggesting to my friends that they do the same.
Be well.
